What is the Low Income Health Care Card?
The Low Income Health Care Card (LIC) is for people who earn a low income and are not eligible for other government concession cards. You can apply if your gross weekly income (before tax) is below the threshold for your circumstances. The card is issued by Services Australia (Centrelink) and is valid for one year.
Income Limits
The weekly income limit for a single person is $681.00. For couples, the combined income limit is higher. The limit increases by $120 per week for each dependent child. Income is assessed over an 8-week period using gross (before tax) income.
