Understanding your energy bill relief entitlements

Federal Energy Bill Relief

The Australian Government provides energy bill relief through direct credits applied to household and small business electricity bills. The amount is applied automatically by your energy retailer -- you do not need to apply. For 2025-26, the federal rebate is $300 per household.

State and Territory Rebates

Each state and territory offers additional energy concessions and rebates, particularly for concession card holders. These may include electricity rebates, gas rebates, medical cooling/heating concessions, and life support rebates.

Concession Card Holders

If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, or a DVA Gold or White Card, you may be eligible for additional state-based energy concessions on top of the federal rebate.

State Rebate Comparison (Concession Card Holders)
