Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Assegno Unico Universale?

It is a monthly payment from INPS for families with children. It covers every child up to age 21, with no age limit for disabled children. Every family gets at least the minimum, whatever they earn. In 2026 the amounts range from €58.30 to €203.80 a month per child under 18.

How much is the Assegno Unico in 2026?

For 2026, INPS raised all amounts by 1.4% (Circolare n. 7 of 30 January 2026). Each child under 18 gets €203.80 a month if your ISEE is €17,468.51 or less. The amount falls as your ISEE rises, down to €58.30 a month for an ISEE of €46,582.71 or more, or if you have no ISEE.

Do I need an ISEE to get the payment?

No, but it helps. Without an ISEE, INPS pays only the minimum amounts. With a valid ISEE below €46,582.71 you get more. Renew your ISEE at the start of each year, and by 30 June at the latest, to keep the higher amount and receive any arrears from March.

What extra amounts can my family get?

Babies under 1 get 50% extra. From the third child onwards there is a top-up of up to €99.10 per child, and families with 4 or more children get a flat €150 a month. If both parents work, each child under 18 gets up to €34.90 more. Mothers under 21 get €23.30 extra per child. Disabled children under 21 get €99.10 to €122.30 extra.

Do children aged 18 to 20 still get the allowance?

Yes, at a lower rate (€29.10 to €99.10 a month) if they study, do training, do civil service, are registered as unemployed, or earn under €8,000 a year from work. The payment stops at 21, unless the child is disabled — then there is no age limit.

Is this calculator exact?

It is a close estimate. INPS uses official tables with €100 ISEE bands, so the real figure can differ by a few cents. This tool uses the same 2026 rules and rates but smooths the bands into a straight line. For the exact amount, use the INPS simulator or ask a patronato or CAF.

Ogni anno l'INPS aggiorna importi e soglie ISEE in base all'inflazione.
