Enter your gross annual salary into our German Salary Calculator. It automatically deducts Income Tax (Einkommensteuer), Solidarity Surcharge (Solidaritaetszuschlag), Church Tax (Kirchensteuer) if applicable, and social security contributions (health, pension, unemployment, long-term care insurance) to show your exact net pay. Select your tax class (Steuerklasse) for precise results.

Yes. All German calculators use the official tax rates from the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) for the 2025 tax year. This includes the income tax formula, the basic tax-free allowance (Grundfreibetrag of EUR 12,096), and social security contribution ceilings.
Germany has six tax classes (I to VI) that determine how much wage tax your employer withholds monthly. Class I applies to single employees, III and V for married couples, and IV for married couples with similar incomes. Our calculator supports all six tax classes.
The Solidarity Surcharge is 5.5% of income tax but only applies above an exemption threshold. For 2025, it has been effectively abolished for the majority of employees. Our calculator automatically applies the exemption threshold and gliding zone.
Church Tax is 8% of income tax in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg, and 9% in all other states. It only applies if you are a registered member of a tax-collecting religious community. You can toggle it on or off in our calculator.
Employees pay roughly half: health insurance ~8.15% (plus supplementary), pension 9.3%, unemployment 1.3%, and long-term care 1.7% (plus 0.6% surcharge for childless employees over 23). Contributions are calculated up to respective income ceilings.
Our calculators are primarily designed for employed workers. Self-employed individuals have different social security obligations. You can use our income tax calculator for an estimate of your tax liability.
We update all German calculators annually once the Federal Ministry of Finance confirms the new tax rates and social security thresholds, typically in November or December.
No. All calculations are performed entirely in your browser. No salary figures, tax IDs, or personal details are transmitted to our servers.
