Yes. All Dutch calculators use the official Belastingdienst (Dutch Tax and Customs Administration) rates for the 2025 tax year. This includes the box 1 income tax brackets, social security contribution rates, general tax credit (algemene heffingskorting), and labour tax credit (arbeidskorting).
The Netherlands uses a combined income tax and social security system in Box 1. For 2025, the rate is approximately 36.97% on income up to ~€38,441 and 49.50% on income above that. The lower bracket includes social security contributions (AOW, ANW, Wlz). Tax credits (heffingskortingen) reduce your final tax bill.
The 30% ruling is a tax advantage for highly skilled migrants working in the Netherlands. It allows employers to pay 30% of the salary tax-free as a reimbursement for extraterritorial costs. The ruling applies for a maximum of 5 years and has a minimum salary requirement. Our calculator lets you toggle the 30% ruling on or off.
Two main credits reduce your tax: the General Tax Credit (algemene heffingskorting, max ~€3,362) and the Labour Tax Credit (arbeidskorting, max ~€5,532). Both phase out at higher incomes. Our calculator applies these credits automatically based on your income level.
In Box 1, social contributions are bundled into the lower tax bracket rate. They cover AOW (state pension), ANW (survivor benefits), and Wlz (long-term care). Additionally, employers pay premiums for WW (unemployment), WIA (disability), and Zvw (health insurance). The employee Zvw contribution (~5.32% up to a max) may also apply.
Yes. In the Netherlands, employees are legally entitled to a holiday allowance (vakantiegeld) of at least 8% of gross annual salary. It is typically paid in May. Our calculator shows this separately and includes it in your total annual compensation.
We update all Dutch calculators annually when the Belastingdienst publishes new rates, typically in December or January for the coming tax year, following the Prinsjesdag budget announcements in September.
