Enter your annual gross salary into our South African Salary Calculator. It deducts PAYE (Pay As You Earn) income tax, UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) contributions, and optional retirement fund contributions to show your exact net take-home pay.
No. All calculators are completely free and require no registration, login, or email.
Yes. All South African calculators use the official SARS (South African Revenue Service) tax rates for the 2025/26 tax year (1 March 2025 to 28 February 2026). This includes the latest tax brackets, primary/secondary/tertiary rebates, and medical tax credits.
PAYE is a progressive tax with rates from 18% to 45% across seven brackets. The tax-free threshold depends on your age: under 65 the primary rebate effectively makes the first R95,750 tax-free. Our calculator applies the correct brackets, rebates, and medical credits automatically.
UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund) is a mandatory contribution of 1% of your remuneration, with your employer also contributing 1%. The contribution is capped at a maximum remuneration of R17,712 per month. UIF provides short-term financial relief for unemployment, illness, maternity, and adoption.
South Africa provides age-based tax rebates that reduce your tax liability: Primary rebate (all taxpayers) R17,235, Secondary rebate (65 and older) an additional R9,444, and Tertiary rebate (75 and older) an additional R3,145 for 2025/26. Our calculator applies the correct rebate based on your age.
Contributions to pension, provident, and retirement annuity funds are tax-deductible up to 27.5% of your remuneration or taxable income (whichever is greater), capped at R350,000 per year. Our calculator shows the tax benefit of your retirement contributions.
Yes. South Africa provides medical tax credits: R364 per month for the main member, R364 for the first dependent, and R246 for each additional dependent. Additional credits apply for qualifying medical expenses. Our calculator includes these in your tax computation.
We update all South African calculators annually following the National Budget Speech (usually in February), when the Minister of Finance announces new tax rates, brackets, rebates, and thresholds.
No. All calculations run entirely in your browser. No ID numbers, salary data, or personal details are sent to our servers.
