Frequently Asked Questions

What is CPF LIFE?

CPF LIFE (Lifelong Income For the Elderly) is a national annuity scheme that gives you a monthly payout for life from age 65. It is funded from your Retirement Account balance. The payout amount depends on how much you have set aside and the plan you choose (Standard, Basic, or Escalating).

What is the Full Retirement Sum (FRS)?

The Full Retirement Sum (FRS) is the amount CPF sets as the benchmark for retirement savings. For 2025, the FRS is $205,800. If you meet the FRS, you can receive the full CPF LIFE monthly payout. You can also choose the Basic Retirement Sum ($102,900) if you own a property.

Can I withdraw CPF at 55?

At age 55, you can withdraw any savings above the Full Retirement Sum (FRS). Your FRS amount is set aside in a Retirement Account. If you own a property, you only need to set aside the Basic Retirement Sum. The rest can be withdrawn as a lump sum.
