Understanding Salary Comparison

Why compare take-home pay?

A higher gross salary does not always mean proportionally more take-home pay. Ireland's progressive tax system means that salary increases above the standard rate band (€42,000 for single earners) are taxed at 40% plus USC and PRSI. This calculator shows the actual difference in what you pocket.

What about non-salary benefits?

Consider other factors: employer pension contributions, health insurance (BIK may apply), flexible working, professional development, annual leave entitlements, and commute costs. This calculator focuses on the financial comparison.

Revenue-Aligned: Uses official Revenue Commissioners rates for the 2025 tax year. For complex situations, consult a registered tax advisor.

Disclaimer: This calculator provides estimates based on current Revenue Commissioners rates and thresholds for the 2026 tax year. It does not constitute professional tax, financial, or legal advice.
